Totally Papercrafts Challenge - Beautiful Borders

Hi everyone,

and Happy Friday.  I hope you have something fun planned for the weekend.
Our granddaughters are coming for a sleep over tomorrow night.
I haven't seen them since they returned from Disney World over the March break
so we have some catching up to do.

Today starts a new challenge at
and our lovely Wendy has chosen the theme "Beautiful Borders".

My card share is a birthday card I made for one of my granddaughters, who like me, is a fan of The Hunger Games.
She has read the trilogy and is eagerly awaiting the third movie Mockingjay that's due out later this year.

I've coloured Krista Smiths  Princess Honor  from Saturated Canary with Copics and went with a "Catching Fire"  theme.

I pulled out a lot of oldies when making this card.  The inside circle is cut using SB Large pinking circles.  I then glued on the metal beaded circles and attached a gold rhinestone to the center of each one.  The flowers are from WOC. I finally got to use the brown and green colours that I just had to have a year ago:)   Tim Holtz Weathered Clock die and SB Sprocket die overlap the outside frame. The metal piece is from a visit to Buffalo Stamps.  The wooden clocks are 7 Gypsies...and Graphic 45.  Sentiment created in Word.  Shape is Go Kreate Half XXL Square Frame Frilly #10.  The inner layers are cut by hand.   If I haven't lost you by now there is one more very old tool I use to draw the inner layers...it is by Puzzle Mates and they are called Magic Matter Disk Set.   They are round metal disks with a hole in the center...you put your pencil in, align the disk with the die and trace.....easy as that. All this is because I have been unable to find the XL dies that match #10. DP - Graphic 45 Couture

I would like to enter the following challenges:
Divas by Design - Flower Power
Frilly and Funkie Challenge - Neglected Dies
4Crafty Girls Challenge #14 - Anything Goes
Tip Top Tuesday - Metal

Thank you for stopping by today.

Lovely & Lace

Happy Friday everyone,

Today starts a new challenge at

Our lovely, talented Cathy (Kraftykoolkat) is hosting this week
and she would like to see Lace...the real stuff, not just die cuts on your creations.

For my card share I've used the gorgeous "Lovely"
by the fabulous Krista Smith of Saturated Canary
They are our sponsor this week and so kindly provided us with our digis.
Thank you Krista!

This glamorous gal can be found  here.
I really enjoyed colouring this one and am finally happy with my folds.
Practice, practice, and more practice! I had a lot of time to colour while hunkered down
in the air conditioning during the recent record breaking temperatures
....that and watching the amazing Alyces' colouring video definitely helped.

A friend requested a birthday card for her grown daughter and I'm hoping she will like this card.
I will however have a difficult time parting with it as it's my current favourite.
IRL it's creamier than in the photo which gives it a more vintage look.
SU Very Vanilla cardstock used....yes, I hoard that stuff!

The gorgeous lace was purchased from Buffalo Stamps on a recent visit.

The seam binding was a gift from a friend...thank you Helen!

Pleated ribbon from  The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, gold string beads from Michaels as well as the Recollections embossed gold dp.

SB Radiant Rectangles used for the tag with Fran-táge on the edge.

I've so neglected my MS punch-around-the-pages punches lately
so put "Embroidered Floral" to work on the card base.

Image is coloured with Copics. The dress is E50, E53, E55, E57.

I would like to enter the following challenges:
  1. Saturated Canary Challenge #48 - Glamour and Glitz
  2. Crafty Bloggers Network Challenge #13 - Metal
  3. C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 217 - For the Girls
  4. Crafty Ribbons Challenge #54- Anything goes with ribbon
  5. Make it Monday #150
  6. Copic Markers Europe - Shabby chic
  7. MarkerPOP Challenge #27 - Lovely locks

If you like, please stop by the challenge at TPC, see the gorgeous creations made by the team and play along with us...we'd love to see you there.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Your comments are always appreciated.

And then it happened!

Hello everyone.  Another chilly morning to start the weekend but at least the sun is shining.

I've a long post today with lots of pictures.  I captured the unthinkable when colouring this image with Copics.   This has happened to me before but it still was an OH NO moment.  First I'll show the finished card that I will be entering into Totally Papercrafts Challenge #168 which asks for buttons.
At Saturated Canary they have a challenge that calls for "hair that is different"....well this one sure is different!   If you stick with me here you'll see why.

Usually when I begin colouring an image I start with the skin, then the hair but with this adorable image I thought the nightie was a challenge for me so started with it first, leaving the hair to the last.  And this is what happened!

My E29 gave off a HUGE drop of ink !!!!  All the blotting in the world won't remove this mess.
On reflection I think this happens when I use very light strokes and this causes the ink to accumulate....that's what I'm thinking anyway!

Now to the rescue!  I printed off another image and just coloured the area I needed to use for the repair.  Looks like a hair piece...which I guess it is (smile).  I use a black marker around the cut edges so no white is showing before attaching.

Finished....an hours colouring saved from the bin!

Other details:
Spellbinder Gold Elements One dies

Memory Box Kaleidoscope Butterfly
DP - Prima Celebrate Jack & Jill
SU Pink Pirouette (my favourite pink)
Pearl Buttons from my stash

Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Skating ....

Good day everyone and Happy New Year!
Wow...my last post of 2012...where did the year go?
What fun it has been for me in blogland. I have met and been inspired by soooo many talented crafters - thank you all for being there.  A big Thank You also to my followers.  I appreciate the time you have taken to comment and your kind words are always so helpful.   I am honoured and hope that in some small way I have inspired you.

The card I'd like to share with you today is a step centre birthday card.  I used a Saturated Canary digi called Nikki.   I couldn't resist buying this one to add to my collection :)

I tried out my new Tim Holtz Tattered Pinecone die and cut it in Kraft.  I cut 2 of the TH Pine Tree dies using TH Kraft Resist paper, sponged them with TH Distressed Ink - Walnut.  I cut 2 more pine trees, this time in white and positioned them behind the kraft ones to give them a look of snow.   I used MS snowflake punch around the middle panel, recycled the stars and added stickles to the centre.

Memory Box Frostyville Border die used on the bottom.  The reindeer was purchased last year from WOC as well as the burgundy flower and seam binding.   Tag is a Spellbinders Back to Basics.
Sorry, I did not make note of the Copics but the I know the burgundy was R89, R85 with a bit of R56

Another Christmas Card

Hello dear friends and fellow blogging buddies.
I hope you all had a great Christmas and the big guy in red was good to you.
We celebrated with family at our daughter's home on Christmas day and it was wonderful.
Now the rush is over and we're slowly getting back to normal.   Yesterday we awoke to over 30 cm of the white fluffy stuff......so pretty when the sun is shining and the sky is blue.

I have a Christmas card to show you today that was commissioned by a friend for one of her granddaughters who's favourite colour is purple. It had to go in an envelope so I kept it fairly flat.   I've used a Saturated Canary digi called Hand Me Downs....hope you like it.

Large snowflake - CB, small snowflake, MS punch.  Sentiment from a set I purchased last year -cut out using Spellbinders circle and mounted on SB scallop circle.  Green layer embossed with TH brick embossing folder.

Envelope made to fit the 6x6 inch card.  Spellbinder tag embossed and left blank to add the name.

Creative Belli Challenge #152 - Fall

Good morning everyone,

I hope this finds you well.  Yesterday my friend Carol and I spent the morning browsing thru our local scrapbook store, which unfortunately is closing. When everything is 40% off it takes alot of willpower.  I did not feed my paper obsession!  New dies on the other hand, well that's another issue :D

It's time for a new Challenge at the Belli Challenge
The theme, chosen by the owner, Darsie,  is Fall.

I've used a Saturated Canary image called Cornelia to make a "Magic Card".  I followed the great tutorial for Marianne Skjelstad's Magic card  here on Tracy's blog.  The flowers are my "something old"....they've been in my stash for a very long time, along with the punches.

Inside:

Verse:

Martha Stewart punches used around the edges. The leaves are also MS, punched out of cork.  SB Romantic Rectangles used on the inside.  Autumn Blessing stamp - Cornish Heritage Farms (another oldie), mounted on cork again.

We would love it if you joined us at the Creative Belli Challenge this time.

Entering the following challenges:
Challenges 4 Everyone #2 - Anything Goes
Come and Get it Challenges - Tic Tac Toe  (die cuts, free, punches)
