And then it happened!

Hello everyone.  Another chilly morning to start the weekend but at least the sun is shining.

I've a long post today with lots of pictures.  I captured the unthinkable when colouring this image with Copics.   This has happened to me before but it still was an OH NO moment.  First I'll show the finished card that I will be entering into Totally Papercrafts Challenge #168 which asks for buttons.
At Saturated Canary they have a challenge that calls for "hair that is different"....well this one sure is different!   If you stick with me here you'll see why.

Usually when I begin colouring an image I start with the skin, then the hair but with this adorable image I thought the nightie was a challenge for me so started with it first, leaving the hair to the last.  And this is what happened!

My E29 gave off a HUGE drop of ink !!!!  All the blotting in the world won't remove this mess.
On reflection I think this happens when I use very light strokes and this causes the ink to accumulate....that's what I'm thinking anyway!

Now to the rescue!  I printed off another image and just coloured the area I needed to use for the repair.  Looks like a hair piece...which I guess it is (smile).  I use a black marker around the cut edges so no white is showing before attaching.

Finished....an hours colouring saved from the bin!

Other details:
Spellbinder Gold Elements One dies
Saturated Canary digi Reading Beauty
Memory Box Kaleidoscope Butterfly
DP - Prima Celebrate Jack & Jill
SU Pink Pirouette (my favourite pink)
Pearl Buttons from my stash

Other challenges I would like to enter:
Digi Haven - Butterfly
MAWTT - Embossing

Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you all have a good weekend.
hugs,
Pat K x

Pat, thank you for sharing about your adventure. (smile) Also, thank you for telling me it takes a long time to color your images. I honestly thought it was just me, since I'm rather new to the Copic scene, and digis, too. Honestly, I could not see the hair piece until you showed it. THANK YOU for doing that so I'll know in the future. In other words, don't settle for glitter or some added punched piece. Correct it with a little piece from another image. BTW, your card is beautiful. Love those soft pastel greens and pinks together. Are those ornate triangular die cuts simply pieced together atop a panel of DP and then backed with another piece of pink card stock? It is a wonderful card, and I like it a lot -- and your journaling, too! (bigger smile) hugs, de

Beautifully coloured, Pat. And such an inspirational repair job, too. I love the colours you chose and SB dies! x

Hi Donna, Thank you so much for your kind words and the answer to your question is yes. The die was cut and embossed twice, pieced together, mounted on dp then on cs. I love these dies, even though I think they resulted in first Grand Caliburs' demise. I've bought a new one but use my work horse, the Big Shot, for these dies. hugs,x

Wow you did a great save on that gorgeous hair. I have had globs, but none like that. I think I would have just been too upset and started over, but you stayed calm and refocused to make it work. Love your color choice.

What a beautiful card!! Fantastic idea for saving the image.
I had the same thing happen to me last night whilst I was colouring
It happened to me twice with 2 different pens - it seems to be the Sketch
markers it happens with - so annoying!
